BTS Jin's 'The Astronaut' Soars Past 190 Million Streams on Spotify: A Testament to Trustworthy Vocals
BTS member Jin's solo track, 'The Astronaut', continues to sparkle, surpassing 190 million streams on the world's largest music platform, Spotify.
As of July 1, 'The Astronaut' had over 190 million streams on Spotify, with a current count of 190,137,476 streams as of July 2. This single, which was released on October 28 of the previous year, achieved a milestone of 100 million streams on Spotify in just 72 days, setting a record at the time for the fastest Korean male K-pop solo song to do so.
Following that, the song achieved 50 million streams in just 22 days, 60 million in 29 days, 70 million in 37 days, and 90 million in 57 days.
On the day of the song's release, Jin's name was listed on Spotify's 'Global Top Artists' and 'Top Artists in Japan' charts, a record debut for a Korean solo artist in terms of the highest rank.
Upon its release, 'The Astronaut' entered the Spotify 'Daily Top Songs Global Chart' at 17th place, maintaining its position for 37 days.
Jin, demonstrating his unparalleled music power on the world's largest music search platform Shazam, shone as the 'Shazam King.' 'The Astronaut' broke the record as the first K-pop song to surpass 15.51 million Shazams on July 1, dethroning Jin's first solo OST, 'Yours', which previously held the number one spot with 13.14 million Shazams. This feat allowed Jin to hold the first and second positions for most Shazamed K-pop songs, showcasing his formidable solo power.
Additionally, his songs 'Epiphany', 'Moon', 'Awake', 'Tonight', 'Abyss', and 'SuperTuna' have also been Shazamed 1.27 million, 1.18 million, 870,000, 550,000, 410,000, and 100,000 times respectively. Jin set a new record as the first and only K-pop solo artist to achieve a total of 33 million Shazams with just eight solo songs.
As Jin's first solo single 'The Astronaut' continues to enjoy red-hot popularity around the world, he is also shining as the 'Radio King,' sweeping major radio stations in Mexico. 'The Astronaut' ranked first for four consecutive weeks on the 'Conteo Match top30' chart run by Mexico's radio channel 'Match FM.' It also ranked first on June 24 (local time) on the 'Ranking House TOP30' run by 'House Radio.'
Following Jin at the top, names like Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift were listed, aligning Jin with globally renowned pop stars.
Enjoying unparalleled popularity in Mexico, to the extent of being referred to as 'Jinxico', Jin also made his mark on the 'El y Ella TOP20' chart run by 'El y Ella 103.7FM.' Here, he took the second place after Thalia Ft. David Summers, manifesting his popularity.
'The Astronaut,' which was a gift to fans before Jin's military enlistment, continues its high-flying journey of popularity, having achieved dazzling records on music charts worldwide upon its release in October last year. Additionally, Jin has received widespread acclaim from domestic and foreign music specialists, including Billboard, NME, and Rolling Stone, solidifying his position as a capable solo artist.
With his rich vocal range and clear tone that can't be contained in recordings alone, Jin has been receiving attention as a 'trustworthy vocalist.' Regardless of his military hiatus, the unique influence and presence of global superstar Jin continue to shine.
