BLACKPINK's Rosé Embroiled in Bizarre Rumor in China Over Party Photo
BLACKPINK member Rosé found herself in an awkward situation due to a strange rumor that spread in China.
On April 12th (local time), Chinese entertainment media outlets, including Sina Entertainment News, reported allegations that Rosé had taken drugs at a party with friends. The source of the rumors was a group photo shared by Eva Chow, known as the creative director of a certain brand.
In the photo, several people, including Eva Chow, are seen posing happily and enjoying the gathering. Rosé, located at the bottom of the picture, is covering her mouth and laughing.
Some Chinese netizens suggested that there seemed to be something unusual in the black-and-white ashtray on the table, fueling drug use speculation. The baseless rumor quickly spread, causing a stir on Chinese social media and among public opinion. Rosé's fans actively denied the drug use allegations and defended her.
One fan explained, "What looks like a black-and-white ashtray is actually a 'decorative item' in the room. It can be seen in agency photos, and the reflections and shadows are clearly visible." They added, "The actual stainless steel shelf under the glass of the table is reflecting and the table shape is an 'X,' with the remainder being stainless steel. There is nothing near Rosé's table other than dishes."
In addition to this, the fan said, "Rosé's condition has been very good recently. I wish people would stop [spreading rumors]. Rosé is innocent in this rumor."
YG Entertainment, the agency representing BLACKPINK, has not made any specific statement regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK held their "BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] JAPAN" concert at the Tokyo Dome on April 8 and 9. The concert sold out, with a total of 110,000 fans attending over the two-day event.
