From Then To Know: How BTS's Jungkook Has Become Absolutely Comfortable Showing His Tattoos
The maknae of mega K-pop group BTS is known for his affinity to tattoos and also shows them off, but it was not always the case as the idol was not uncomfortable doing so in the past. In fact, he kept his tattoos well hidden.
The talented artist was just a 15-year-old boy when he took to the stage with his six co-band members, who were all older than him.
Becoming a well-known public figure comes with its own set of scrutinies as even the smallest of actions are judged by the public and audience at large. K-pop idols are especially scrutinized for each and every one of their moves. They are expected to have impeccable conduct in public and have high moral standards.
In addition, there are well-understood rules and taboos in Korea about certain types of behavior and actions, more so for those who are young. Though tattoos are not illegal in South Korea, K-pop idols do not necessarily flaunt them in public.
Tattoo art is reportedly considered a medical service in the nation, with many tattoo artists operating in small illegal stores to avoid spending on medical degrees. Furthermore, tattoos are often related to gang violence and are not considered suitable for K-pop idols.
It is no wonder then that the young Jungkook had to keep his love for tattoos hidden in public.
A look through previous photos and videos of the BTS maknae shows him hiding the tattoos from fans with bandages or clothes. In fact, he is not the only idol who tried or is trying to conceal their love for the skin ink art from the public.
Now, finally, after years of keeping his tattoo hidden, Jungkook is seen showing his tattoos with elan. He wears uppers with short sleeves that put his arm tattoos on full display. Moreover, now he is also inked at places that cannot be hidden, such as across his knuckles, that has "ARMY" inked. He also has a "J" and "M" inked on his finger. His whole hand is tattooed with meaningful designs. Jungkook also has many eye and lips piercings.
Fans from both South Korea and the world are now more than happy to be able to see their idol Jungkook freely and comfortably showing off his tattoos and are happy that the maknae does not have to worry about such things.
