BLACKPINK's Grand Finale: Spotlight on Gocheok Sky Dome After Paris Critique
Amidst a critical review from a French daily newspaper about their Paris concert, global attention is now focused on BLACKPINK's grand finale at the Gocheok Sky Dome.
BLACKPINK is set to conclude their world tour, 'BORN PINK', at the Gocheok Sky Dome on the 16th and 17th. This concert will mark the end of their year-long world tour. Celebrating their 8th year since debut, BLACKPINK is expected to showcase their prowess as a girl group in front of their domestic fans.
Recently, the French daily, Le Parisien, labeled BLACKPINK's Paris concert as the "worst performance." The newspaper criticized their choreography as being too textbook-like and pointed out a lack of coordination among the members. Additionally, they mentioned that the video capturing each member was messy and the camera work unstable, leading to a disjointed concert experience with too many intermissions.
Given this backdrop, many are eagerly anticipating BLACKPINK's performance at the Gocheok Sky Dome. Another reason for the heightened interest in this concert is the uncertainty surrounding the group's future. BLACKPINK, who debuted in 2016, had their exclusive contract with YG Entertainment expire on August 7th. The decision regarding their renewal remains undecided. YG, considering BLACKPINK as a significant asset, is expected to make an official announcement only after a definitive agreement is reached.
Fans are also curious about what BLACKPINK might share during the concert. Previously, Jennie posted on her SNS on the 24th, "It's the last concert in Korea. Let's go~ See you at Gocheok Sky Dome. The last of the year-long tour," revealing her excitement. However, given that BLACKPINK's contract with YG had expired at that time, fans speculated about the implications of Jennie's use of the word "last."
As a K-pop girl group that has achieved much and garnered global support, BLACKPINK has already had a 7-year journey together. Many speculate that while they cherish their group activities, individual members might also want to explore personal opportunities. With the global fandom eagerly watching, the official stance of BLACKPINK will likely be revealed during their concerts on the 16th and 17th at Gocheok Sky Dome.
Meanwhile, starting from Korea in October of the previous year, BLACKPINK has performed in over 60 concerts across 23 countries including the US, Canada, UK, Spain, Germany, France, Denmark, Netherlands, Thailand, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Philippines, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, China, Australia, and Vietnam. Through this tour, they attracted approximately 1.7 million fans and are reported to have earned over 400 billion won. Notably, they surpassed the Spice Girls, becoming the highest-earning girl group globally.
