FIFTY FIFTY Eyes Solo Ventures? Group and Individual Names Registered as Trademarks
It has been reported that the members of the group FIFTY FIFTY, who have raised issues with their exclusive contracts with their agency, have registered individual trademarks.
According to the Patent Information Search Service on the 5th, not only the name of FIFTY FIFTY but also multiple trademarks, including the names of FIFTY FIFTY members Aran (Jung Eun-Ah), Keena (Song Ja-Kyung), Saena (Jung Se-Hyun), and Sio (Jung Ji-Ho), were confirmed to have been registered on the 19th of last month. The names of the family members who registered the trademarks were reported to be the same as the four members Aran, Keena, Saena, and Sio.
Previously, the agency Attrakt had only registered the American name FIFTY FIFTY as a trademark and did not register the trademark rights for the domestic team name or the members' names.
The 19th of last month when the 'FIFTY FIFTY' trademark was registered is also the day when the members of FIFTY FIFTY filed a provisional disposition for the suspension of the exclusive contract to the Seoul Central District Court against their agency, Attrakt. At that time, the members filed for a provisional disposition to suspend the effectiveness of the exclusive contract, citing unclear settlements and forced strenuous activities, only seven months after their debut.
There has been talk that the members might have aimed to exclude the agency from FIFTY FIFTY activities due to such moves.
FIFTY FIFTY achieved results by entering the upper ranks of the US Billboard chart and the UK Official Chart with the title track 'Cupid' from the single released last February. As a rookie idol from a small and medium-sized agency, they received more attention and love as it was unprecedented.
Due to the dispute over the exclusive contract with the agency, a red light has been lit on FIFTY FIFTY's activities. According to Attrakt, the group will not participate in 'KCON LA 2023', which is scheduled to be held in Los Angeles, USA, next month on the 19th, and the shooting of the music video 'Bobby Dreams' for the movie 'Bobby', advertisements with sports athletes and global electronics companies, and shooting for entertainment programs have virtually fallen through.
