BTS Jin Crowned Top Male Solo Music Influencer in Korea, Climbs Global Charts
BTS member Jin has proven his immense popularity by securing the title of Top Male Solo Music Influencer in Korea for 2023. Announced by the influencer marketing platform Starngage on April 7 (KST), Jin ranked third overall in the Top Music Instagram Influencers in Korea, with the first and second places going to official group accounts.
Jin recorded an impressive 26.72% engagement rate, which calculates the ratio of active and engaged followers. He is the only BTS member to rank in the Top 20 for the 2023 Korean Top Music Instagram Influencers list, despite currently serving as an active-duty army assistant.
Jin also claimed 15th place in HypeAuditor's Top 1000 Most Influential Influencers in the US, maintaining the top position for Asian males for 159 days. Worldwide, he ranks third among male influencers, trailing singer Justin Bieber and soccer player Neymar.
Despite launching his personal Instagram account later than other celebrities, Jin enjoys fervent attention and love from fans worldwide. As of April 8th, his account boasts 44.73 million followers, even with few uploads due to his military service.
Jin's debut solo single "The Astronaut," released on October 28th last year, made history as the first solo single to sell over a million copies on Circle Chart. The music video also held the number one spot for 17 consecutive days, a record for K-pop videos, surpassing his previous hit, "Super Tuna."
"The Astronaut" debuted at No. 51 on the US Billboard Hot 100, achieving the highest debut for a K-pop artist. In Japan, the song ranked 4th on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, the highest position for a Korean solo song in the past decade. The single's global success demonstrates Jin's explosive power and influence.
On the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart (April 8th issue), "The Astronaut" ranked 7th, marking its 13th week on the chart. This record makes Jin the longest-charting K-pop solo artist in the past decade.
Jin's global popularity has also had a significant impact on advertising. The sales of Ottogi Jin Ramen, endorsed by Jin, have seen considerable growth. In March, Ottogi's overseas sales accounted for over 10% of total revenue for the first time, with experts attributing this increase to Jin's role as a global ambassador.
Affectionately known as "The Face of America" and "Vocal King," Jin continues to prove his exceptional influence as a superstar and top vocalist in Korea, the US, and worldwide.
