Defying Controversy: K-pop Girl Group FIFTY FIFTY Holds Strong on Billboard Hot 100 for 17 Weeks Despite Agency Disputes
Despite ongoing disputes with their agency, K-pop girl group FIFTY FIFTY's hit song 'Cupid' continues to hold its place on the Billboard Hot 100 for the 17th consecutive week.
According to the latest chart released on July 19th (Korea Time), 'Cupid' has been placed at the 27th position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week of July 22, 2023.
'Cupid' has seen a minor drop, moving down from 24th place the previous week but still maintains its strong position within the upper tier, marking its 17th consecutive week on the chart.
FIFTY FIFTY is the only K-pop girl group currently having a track that's been on the Billboard Hot 100 for more than 10 weeks.
'Cupid' made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the 100th spot in February, then steadily climbed up the ranks to 94th in its second week, 85th in the third, 60th in the fourth, 50th in the fifth, 41st in the sixth, 19th in the seventh, and 17th in the eighth week. Despite a slight fall to 18th place in the ninth week and subsequent slight fluctuations, 'Cupid' managed to climb two places up to 21st in the twelfth week, demonstrating a resilient long run. The song continued to stay at 24th place during the 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th weeks.
'Cupid' is a song that encapsulates a girl's autonomous growth. The members deliver a visual interpretation of this change and add enjoyment to the viewing experience, presenting a range of styling from cute casual looks to swag-filled streetwear, and captivating goth style.
