BTS's Golden Maknae Jungkook Takes the World by Storm with Solo Single 'Seven'
In a showcase of superpower, Jungkook, the youngest member of BTS, has captivated the world with his first solo single, "Seven."
According to his agency Big Hit Music on the 16th, "Seven" topped Spotify's 'Global Top Songs,' the world's largest music streaming service. The track was streamed 15,995,378 times upon release, skyrocketing immediately to the top.
Jungkook's achievement of instantly topping Spotify's global chart as a Korean solo artist is the highest record to date. Furthermore, the streaming numbers for "Seven" on Spotify have set the highest new record for a song entering 'Top Songs Global.'
He has also swept the Japanese Oricon chart. On Oricon's 'Daily Digital Single Ranking', "Seven Clean ver." grabbed the 1st place, and "Seven Explicit ver." ranked 2nd upon release. They each achieved download numbers of 17,142 and 9,625 respectively. The 'Instrumental' version, containing only the musical arrangement, also made it to the 4th place. This is all within just two days of its release.
The fervor for Jungkook's "Seven" was anticipated from the moment of its release. The song swept the top spot on iTunes 'Top Songs' charts in 106 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, and France (as of 9 AM on the 15th). Multiple versions of "Seven" ranked 2nd and 3rd, successfully lining up on the chart. Pre-released self-composed songs, "Still With You" and "My You," also ranked high.
In South Korea, the song topped Melon's Top 100 just 11 hours after its release, setting a new record for the 'shortest time' to reach No.1 for a male solo artist.
The music video, featuring Han Sohee, is also gaining popularity. The video, reflecting the passionate lyrics about wanting to be with a loved one every day of the week, features Han Sohee and Jungkook as a couple. Despite the constant arguments, Jungkook is seen tirelessly proving his love for his partner, resulting in a video full of humor. Scenes of Jungkook singing and dancing tirelessly in love, even amidst fiery arguments, being submerged in water, or being blown away by a storm, double the enjoyment of listening and watching the song.
This unique styling stole the hearts of YouTube users. The music video for "Seven," released at 1 PM on the 14th through the official Hybe Labels YouTube channel, secured the top spot in YouTube's 'Most Popular Music Videos Worldwide.'
