BTS Jimin Shatters Records with 'Face': The New 'Spotify King' of K-pop
BTS member Jimin is making history as a K-pop solo artist, shining brightly with his global popularity on Spotify.
Jimin's album 'Face' surpassed a total of 380 million streams on Spotify as of May 2. This milestone was achieved in just 38 days after its release, setting the record for the shortest time taken by a Korean solo artist.
The title track 'Like Crazy' has been unstoppable with the original Korean version reaching 115 million streams, and the English version crossing 90 million, totaling over 215.64 million streams.
'Like Crazy' quickly entered Spotify's Global Daily Top Songs chart upon its release, staying on the chart for 39 days as of May 1st. During this time, the song remained within the top 50 for 36 days, setting the 2023 record for the longest-charting Korean solo artist.
The pre-released track 'Set Me Free Pt. 2' has garnered over 98.49 million streams and is on the brink of achieving 100 million streams. As of April 28th, the song charted for 42 days on the Global chart, ranking 3rd for the longest-charting male K-pop solo track.
Other tracks on the album, such as 'Face Off' with 26.48 million streams, 'Alone' with 23.32 million, and the instrumental 'Interlude: Dive' with over 17.56 million streams, have also received much love from fans.
With the massive success of his solo album, Jimin has become the longest-charting Korean solo artist in K-pop history on the Global Artist chart, staying on the chart for 47 days. Additionally, he succeeded in entering the Weekly Artist chart in the album's 6th week and charted on the US Daily Artist chart for 18 days, the longest time for a K-pop solo artist.
After surpassing 5 million followers on Spotify, Jimin gained 448,000 new followers in April, showing the highest growth rate among K-pop male solo artists. As of April 30th, his monthly listeners reached 13,347,016.
Jimin's 'Like Crazy,' which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, became the first Korean solo artist to reach #1 on Spotify's Global Daily Top Songs chart. With over 800 million streams on his personal profile, Jimin is walking the path of the 'Spotify King.'
