Hong Jin-Young Releases Heartfelt Remake of 'Have a Drink' with Soul-Stirring Harmonica Melodies
Singer Hong Jin Young has made a comeback with her emotional remake of the single "Have a Drink."
Originally released in 2009 by Jia, Hong Jin Young's rendition of "Let's Have a Drink" is imbued with her unique sentimentality. A harmonica performance throughout the track adds a poignant and heartrending touch, setting it apart from the original.
The song, with lyrics like "If it's okay, come out / Our love was passionate / We nurtured our love / We had a drink first at that house... Tears are in the glass / You are overflowing in my heart," is reborn with Hong Jin Young's distinctive vocal charm, capturing the pain of a breakup.
After challenging the power pop genre with "Girl In The Mirror" in December last year, Hong Jin Young diversified her musical activities and entered international charts such as Billboard, iTunes, and Apple Music. Her remake of "Have a Drink," released just four months later, enhances the emotional impact with its persuasive ballad sensibilities.
The remake was completed as a special record, maximizing lyricism through arrangements by producer Counter Punch and Suno, while preserving the analog sentiment of the original and highlighting Hong Jin Young's unique high notes.
Recently, Hong Jin Young shared the news of the remake on Instagram, calling it "a song that I loved so much during ordinary times." The announcement was met with supportive comments from fans. The music video, which will be released alongside the song, intertwines webtoon scenes with Hong Jin Young's singing, anticipated to captivate fans.
Hong Jin Young's remade single series "Starry Night" Vol.1 "Have a Drink" was released on music platforms at 6 p.m. on April 7.
