While the K-Pop sector becomes increasingly prevalent for non-Korean idols, they remain the minority, particularly those from Thailand!
The following idols originate from this Thailand, and most fans probably know their names. Here are all the artists who decided to risk everything to land on Korea to achieve their dreams! (via Koreaboo)
BLACKPINK's LISA
Many people know that Lisa comes from Thailand. Currently, she is known as the best k-pop sensation in Thailand! The youngest member, the lead dancer, main rapper, and the sub-vocalist of BLACKPINK, was born on March 27, 1997. Lisa is 23 years of age.
She was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, and the only child of her parents. Lisa decided to join YG Entertainment back in April 2011 and trained under the label for five years and three months before making her debut with BLACKPINK.
She was the only individual who was accepted in YG Entertainment from its 2010 Thailand auditions.
GOT7's BAMBAM
BamBam is one of Thai K-Pop's most famous artists! He acted as GOT7's sub-rapper and sub-vocalist and joined JYP Entertainment in 2010. While living in Thailand, he earned awards on several dance tournaments, such as the first place in a competition for "Rain Cover" and runner up in a contest for "LG Entertainer."
His mother was reportedly the one who came up with his stage name, basing it from a show called 'The Flintstones,' where the protagonist is called 'BamBam.'
She wished him to portray the character's strong-willed personality. BamBam was originally set to debut with Stray Kids, but destiny had some other plans!
NCT/WAYV/SUPER M's TEN
Ten was born on February 27, 1996, in Bangkok, Thailand. He is the crucial dancer, lead vocalist, and sub-rapper from each band in NCT, WayV, and SuperM. He has one younger sister, and both are culturally Chinese, but they have been raised in Thailand.
He speaks Mandarin, Thai, Korean, and English, making him extraordinarily diverse and multicultural.
His grandmother encouraged him to become a K-Pop star by showing him iconic K-pop bands, including Super Junior, SHINee, and Boa. In 2013, via their Global Audition, he became a trainee for SM Entertainment.
G-IDLE's MINNIE
Minnie, born in Bangkok on October 23, 1997, is now (G)I-DLE 's principal vocalist.
She had two adult twin brothers, Mic and Mac, who she said was purposely named "M" by her father. She landed in Korea in 2015, when she managed to pass the screenings at Cube Entertainment's Thailand auditions, recognizing that another Thai star, CLC's Sorn, is prominent in Korea and remembered her through going with the same talent academy back in Thailand.
