BTS To Hold Global Concert In October To Promote 2030 Busan World Expo
BTS, who is currently on a hiatus as a band, is going to reunite for a global concert in Busan in October 2022. The band's managing company HYBE shared the details of the live onstage performance recently.
The musical event will be hosted as part of the Busan World Expo 2030's promotional activities. The seven superstars were appointed as the goodwill ambassadors of the expo last week. In late June, BTS's management agency signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Busan for cooperating for its successful bid. The band's first act of duty will be taking the center stage in October with the musical concert.
BTS's music label Big Hit Music added that its parent company Hybe, the city of Busan, and the bid committee talked about measures for promoting the city's efforts to host the prestigious international fair.
HYBE shared a few details saying that the Bangtan Boys are planning to host a global concert in October 2022 to spread the word worldwide world about the World Expo in Busan. The agency has, however, not revealed the venue, date, time, or other details about the concert.
The planned concert will be the Kings of K-pop's first performance in South Korea since March when the band hosted the "Permission to Dance on Stage" show in Seoul.
The World Expo, overseen by the International Bureau of Expositions, is among the world's largest international festivals alongside the World Cup and the Olympics. Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Italy, Russia, and South Korea have submitted bids. The final winner could be announced in November 2023.
Meanwhile, the secretary-general of the 2030 Busan World Expo bidding committee Park Jung Wook thanked the active cooperation by HYBE, adding that the committee was confident that the BTS support for the 2030 Busan World Expo, amidst this competitive situation, would be a huge strength for the bidding of Busan. Wook further shared that they will be engaging in recruitment negotiations, in addition to the government also taking every measure in its capacity.
The deputy economic mayor of Busan Lee Sung Kwon added that it was a meaningful meeting where they could discuss concrete measures as soon as possible, after the memorandum of understanding was signed. Kwon mentioned that in the future too, Busan will work with the government to actively support BTS, which is a representative of Korean culture and a global icon, in their promotions as the 2030 Busan World Expo ambassadors.
