KBS On Why Kim Junsu Is Not Invited To 'Music Bank': 'It Could Inevitably Look Like Criticism'
KBS finally responded to the demand of Junsu's fans of him appearing on Music Bank. Here's is what KBS has to say.
The petitions for Junsu
According to Naver News, KBS's Viewers' Rights Center website has received petitions and requests for Kim Junsu to appear on the show. The 33-year-old South Korean singer dropped a new album in a mini-album form entitled Pit A Pat.
He is wrapping his comeback off the title song of the same name for the time being. It means their idol deserved to be performing on Music Bank, leading them to create petitions for the matter for fans.
According to those who have signed, there are 3,000 petitions received by KBS, with the message that demands a guarantee for Junsu to appear on the music show.
The response of KBS
Music Bank Chief producer Kim Kwang Soo issued a statement that addresses the case. He said that Music Bank is a show that ranks and announces artists' music scores from its album sales, broadcast performance, viewer preference, and more.
Thus, it is not their final say whether artists who have not solely decided on promoting their music will be on the said show. It is hard to explain why some artists in the industry are not eligible to be invited to the show.
"Choosing certain artists to be on 'Music Bank' unfortunately automatically leaves out others. If we try to explain why certain artists were chosen over others, it could inevitably look like criticism for those artists," Allkpop quoted Kim Kwang Soo's statement.
However, on the brighter side, the show and the network are planning on giving other artists a chance to be featured in the show in the future.
What are your thoughts on KBS's response statement?
