NewJeans' 'Super Shy' Achieves 5-Week Streak on UK Official Singles Chart
NewJeans has proven their steady popularity in the mainstream pop market by successfully charting for five consecutive weeks on the UK's Official Chart.
'Super Shy', one of the triple title tracks from NewJeans' (Minji, Hani, Daniel, Haerin, Hyein) second mini album 'Get Up,' ranked 63rd on the UK Official Singles 'Top 100' chart as announced on August 11 (local time). After entering the chart at 59th position on July 14, the song achieved its personal best at 52nd on July 28 and has since maintained its position with minor fluctuations.
In the album chart, 'Get Up' is ranked 58th, marking its third week on the list. 'Get Up' debuted at 15th on July 28, making it the second K-pop girl group album ever to enter the UK Official Album Chart.
Previously, NewJeans soared to the top of the U.S. 'Billboard 200' chart on August 5 with 'Get Up', and impressively placed all three of its album title tracks on the 'Hot 100' chart, demonstrating their explosive global growth. Furthermore, in the latest chart (dated August 12), 'Get Up' climbed to 6th on the 'Billboard 200', marking its second consecutive week in the 'Top 10'. On the Billboard 'Hot 100', 'Super Shy' has charted for four consecutive weeks, with its highest rank being 48th on August 5.
On Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, NewJeans continues to shine. 'Super Shy' secured 12th place on Spotify's Global 'Weekly Top Songs' on August 10 and 22nd on Spotify's U.S. 'Weekly Top Songs', maintaining its upper tier position for five straight weeks. These rankings show an impressive jump of five and twelve places respectively from the previous week. Contrary to the usual trend of songs declining in rank over time, NewJeans has gradually increased its position on both charts, briefly faltering last week but rebounding impressively this week.
Domestically, NewJeans has long dominated major music charts. 'Super Shy' swept the number one spot on major local music charts like Melon for the entirety of July. Another title track, 'ETA', has taken the baton, holding the top position on Genie, Bugs, and Flo.
In other news, after successfully wrapping up their performances at the major U.S. music festival 'Lollapalooza Chicago' on August 3 and the '2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree K-pop Super Live' on August 11, NewJeans is set to meet fans worldwide at 'Summer Sonic 2023' in Tokyo, Japan on August 19.
