BLACKPINK's Jisoo Shatters Records, Ranks Second for First-Week Sales Among K-Pop Female Solo Artists
BLACKPINK's Jisoo has achieved 'million-seller' status with her first solo album, breaking the record for the highest first-week sales by a K-pop female solo artist.
According to Hanteo Chart on the 7th, Jisoo's first solo album 'ME' sold a total of 1,172,351 copies from March 31 to April 6. This figure is right behind BLACKPINK's second full-length album 'The Album' (1.54 million) - the highest first-week sales record by a female artist in South Korea - and the highest record for a K-pop female solo artist.
The LP version of 'ME' has not yet been released and was not included in the tally.
Jisoo is also making her presence known on various global charts. The title track "Flower" topped the iTunes album charts in 64 countries, including the United States, and entered the Spotify global chart at 6th place, the highest for a K-pop female solo artist. Living up to her "YouTube Queen" status, the music video for "Flower" is rapidly approaching 100 million views.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK successfully completed their North American tour last year, performing 14 times in seven cities, and their European tour, performing 10 times in seven cities. This year, they plan to meet more fans in Asia. Additionally, they will perform as headliners at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the United States in April and at the British Summer Time Festival in Hyde Park, UK, in July. #BLACKPINK #YG #Kpop #ContentIndustry
