The timeline of actor Kim Soo-hyun's alleged relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron has come under renewed scrutiny after new evidence suggests their connection dates back to 2015-not 2018 as previously claimed.

On March 31, former journalist Kim released several photos during a livestream broadcast that directly challenge statements made by Kim Soo-hyun during his press conference earlier that day.

Among the images was a screenshot of Kim Sae-ron hosting MBC's Show! Music Core and another photo of her eating a meal. The host outfit and hairstyle in the dining photo were identical to those worn by Kim Sae-ron on the December 12, 2015, broadcast of Show! Music Core, according to Kim.

The significance lies in the date. On December 12, 2015, Kim Sae-ron was in her second year of middle school. The same hairstyle and wardrobe from that day appear in the now-public photo where she is seen eating-suggesting the photo was taken on the same day. In a previously leaked message exchange, a person identified as Kim Soo-hyun responded to the image by writing, "Isn't she seriously too cute?"

This discovery has led many online users to raise doubts about the actor's version of events.

During his March 31 press conference held at the Stanford Hotel in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, Kim Soo-hyun once again denied dating Kim Sae-ron during her minor years. "The deceased and I were in a relationship for about a year, five years ago-four years before Queen of Tears aired," he stated, maintaining that the relationship occurred between the summer of 2019 and the fall of 2020.

However, the late actress's family has countered his claims by releasing a series of photos and messages that imply a relationship began earlier. These included an image of Kim Soo-hyun allegedly drinking soju and eating spicy braised chicken (dakbokkeumtang) with Kim Sae-ron, as well as another photo of Kim Sae-ron sleeping in someone's bed, which they claim belonged to Kim Soo-hyun.

In response, Kim Soo-hyun has filed a defamation complaint against Kim Sae-ron's family, an unnamed woman claiming to be Kim Sae-ron's aunt, and journalist Kim. He has also initiated a civil lawsuit demanding 12 billion KRW (approximately $9 million USD) in damages.
