Hwang Young-woong's Past Poverty Claim Challenged: 'Why Erase Father's Wealthy Background?'
Sports Chosun journalist Park A-ram reports on YouTuber and former entertainment reporter Lee Jin-ho's claim that "Burning Trotman" contestant Hwang Young-woong did not come from an impoverished background.
On March 29th, Lee Jin-ho stated in his YouTube channel, 'Entertainment Backtalk Lee Jin-ho,' that "Hwang Young-woong's claims of being 'poor' and from a 'dirt spoon' family are not true."
He added, "It is also not true that his mother worked alone. Hwang Young-woong's father was a well-off individual who owned an Equus car in the past. He also ran a successful business selling one-room apartments in Ulsan. I don't know why they say his mother worked alone."
Previously, Hwang Young-woong shared his family's struggles on MBN's "Burning Trotman," saying, "When I was in kindergarten, my father's workplace went bankrupt due to the IMF crisis. Since then, my mother has supported us. She told us that 'if I don't become strong, I might give up on you,' and raised us like a leader. She had no friends and lived only for us," as he shed tears of sorrow.
Lee Jin-ho further commented, "Hwang Young-woong's mother runs a daycare center, which requires a significant amount of money to establish. It's true that his mother has been working, but his father has been working as well. It's hard to understand why he would erase his father's existence."
Meanwhile, Hwang Young-woong withdrew from "Burning Trotman" due to past controversies, including previous convictions in Shanghai, school violence, and dating violence.
As the controversy grew, Hwang Young-woong said, "I won't make excuses for my actions in the past. I will reflect on the past, clear up any misunderstandings, and sincerely apologize."
