BTS Suga Stuns 27,000 Fans at Japan Concert, His First Solo Tour in Four Years
BTS Suga has successfully completed his world tour concert in Japan.
From June 2nd to 4th, Suga took the stage at the PIA ARENA MM in Kanagawa, Japan, to perform his 'SUGA | Agust D TOUR D-DAY.' This marked his first solo world tour in Japan in four years since his last visit with BTS in 2019.
Over the three-day concert, which was completely sold out, Suga engaged with an impressive crowd of approximately 27,000 fans. The Japan concerts were not only in-person events but were also simultaneously streamed live online on the global fandom platform, Weverse, and broadcasted live in movie theaters across 50 countries.
At this concert, Suga unfolded his musical journey of seven years, through his solo album 'D-DAY,' released on April 21st this year, and his mixtapes 'Agust D' (2016) and 'D-2' (2020). These works make up the Agust D trilogy, showcasing the depth and breadth of Suga's artistry.
Opening the concert with title tracks like 'Daechwita,' 'Agust D,' and 'Moonlight,' Suga displayed a different side of himself from his BTS persona, captivating fans with a wide array of performances. Throughout the concert, he unveiled his identity as a musician and the history of the Agust D series, demonstrating his musical spectrum.
"It's exhilarating to be performing in Japan after four years. I'm thrilled to meet you all through this solo concert," Suga expressed, leading to roaring cheers and group chants from the audience. He delivered heartfelt sentiments in Japanese throughout the concert.
Suga captivated the audience with performances ranging from intense, beat-driven numbers to softer, atmospheric pieces showcasing his skills on the guitar and piano. His unique musical world was on full display.
With dynamic stage designs, diverse video clips, and storytelling enhancing the performances, Suga's first world tour, 'SUGA | Agust D TOUR D-DAY,' shone brilliantly in Japan. In particular, his performance of 'Snooze,' a collaboration with the late Sakamoto Ryuichi, left a deep impression as their meeting was projected onto a large screen.
In the closing moments of the concert, Suga thanked his fans, saying, "Thank you for creating wonderful memories with me over these three days. I truly enjoyed performing here in Japan." He responded to his fans' enthusiastic support, promising, "Next time, all seven of us will perform together."
After marking a milestone with the world tour 'SUGA | Agust D TOUR D-DAY,' Suga is set to perform in Bangkok, Thailand from June 9th to 11th, in Singapore from June 16th to 18th, and in Seoul from June 24th to 25th.
