Actor Kim Seon Ho To Make First Public Appearance For New Play's Press Call 9 Months After False Scandal
Korean Actor Kim Seon Ho is going to make his first public appearance nine months after the controversy related to his girlfriend's abortion.
The actor will attend the press call for the play "Touching The Void", along with others who act in it including Oh Jung Taek, Lee Jin Hee, Lee Hwi Jong, Shin Sung Min, and more to discuss their roles.
Kim Seon attracted criticism right after his successful drama "Hometown Cha Cha Cha" when his ex-girlfriend accused the actor of coercing her to go through an abortion.
After the controversy, the actor withdrew from "1 Night, 2 Days", his variety show, and was dropped from various film projects, which included "2 O'Clock Date".
Now, many of the actor's fans are looking to his future activities with his official return to the entertainment industry.
The actor had reportedly developed shingles due to the intense stress he faced during his hiatus following his embroilment in a false abortion scandal. According to a report, Kim Seon Ho's immune system was compromised by stress leading to the painful rash.
The popular star of "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha" and "Start-Up" had been falsely accused by his ex-girlfriend, Choi Young-ah, in 2021 of forcing her into an abortion. The actor's blossoming career and clean-cut reputation took a hit and faced a backlash even though later on screenshots of text messages between them exonerated him.
Rumors have also been rife that he was rushed to a hospital emergency room in the wake of the scandal last year.
Kim has been keeping a low profile in the days and months following the scandal, however, his return has been highly awaited and anticipated. In May 2022, it was announced that the actor would return to the theater. Tickets for "Touching The Void", his comeback play, which opened in Seoul on July 8, and which will run until September 8, are already sold out.
The play is based on two British mountaineers' real-life stories. They defied death on the Siula Grande's summit in the Peruvian Andes.
The 36-year-old actor started his career on stage and was a part of several plays before making his screen debut in 2017 with "Good Manager".He was chosen in 2021 as Television Actor of the Year by Gallup Korea.
