Seungri Makes An Appearance For His Second Hearing For 8 Charges
Today, October 14, the once-loved K-pop idol, Seungri, currently serving his time in the military, attended his second hearing at the Grounds Operations Command's general military court in Yongin.
The hearing called forth the 22 witnesses to testify, and it includes Jung Joon Young and ex-CEO of Yuri Holdings, Yoo In Suk.
According to previous reports, the court accused Seungri of eight charges, including being involved in availing of prostitution services, mediation, embezzlement. He also went against the Food Sanitation Act, Gambling, Foreign Exchange Transactions Act, along with sexual crimes.
Among these charges, Seungri confessed only to one, which is the violation of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act during his first hearing.
Seungri's 'habitual gambling' in Las Vegas casinos back in December 2013 and August 2017 reached a total of 2.2 billion won, approximately $1.87 million.
Moreover, Seungri had been suspected of exchanging $1 million tokens but intentionally not reporting the exchange made, which is indeed a violation of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act.
Yuri Holdings CEO, Yoo In Suk, had also confessed to his charge of prostitution mediation, while Seungri debunks allegations and charges of prostitution services. The illegal lewd materials, mainly the photos disseminated by Seungri, as stated, were sent to him by an employee from a Singaporean adult entertainment establishment.
Furthermore, Seungri explained that he indeed was gambling but not in a habitual way. The court concluded the day after interrogating the 22 witnesses.
The court will divide Seungri's trial into three, with the first part for his prostitution charges. The military prosecution appealed to the court to call on the nine witnesses of the crime of prostitution, including Jung Joon Young and Yoo In Suk.
Owing to numerous charges Seungri obtained and the number of witnesses to be summoned in the court, the questioning might be up until December 17 before the final sentencing of punishment for Seungri.
