Actress Yoon Jin-yi has been revealed as the actress who suffered second-degree burns while undergoing a wrinkle improvement procedure at a dermatology clinic.

On March 20, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 18 (Chief Judge Park Jun-min) ruled in favor of Yoon Jin-yi in her damages lawsuit against Dr. A from a dermatology clinic in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The court recognized medical negligence and ordered Dr. A to compensate her with ₩48.03 million (approximately $36,000).

In May 2021, Yoon Jin-yi underwent three wrinkle improvement procedures - including ultrasound and laser treatments - while under sedation anesthesia. However, despite sustaining a serious injury to her left cheek during the procedure, the medical staff reportedly only applied a hydrocolloid bandage without taking further action.

Ultimately, Yoon Jin-yi was diagnosed with second-degree burns as a result of the procedure. She has since undergone about 50 treatments from 2021 to the present to restore her skin but has not yet fully recovered. It is reported that the scar remains visible even from a distance of two to three meters.

To make matters worse, Yoon Jin-yi was preparing to film the weekend drama "Young Lady and Gentleman" at the time, and the injury forced her to spend an additional ₩9.55 million (about $7,100) on CG editing for her appearance.

However, the court did not include the CG costs in the compensation amount.

Initially, Yoon Jin-yi sought ₩200 million in damages. The court, however, awarded her approximately ₩50 million, considering factors such as ₩11.16 million in past treatment costs, ₩11 million for future treatments, ₩10.77 million in projected income loss, and ₩25 million in compensation for emotional distress.

Yoon Jin-yi made her debut in 2012 with the SBS drama "A Gentleman's Dignity," quickly rising to stardom. In October 2022, she married Kim Tae-geun, a financial professional, and welcomed their first daughter in March the following year. On February 24 of this year, she gave birth to their second daughter, becoming a mother of two.
