Rumors of BLACKPINK's Jisoo planning a solo comeback have been shut down, with her agency BLISSOO confirming on November 8 that she is currently not preparing any solo music releases. The K-pop superstar, whose fellow BLACKPINK members have all embarked on individual projects this year, will instead be directing her energy toward acting roles.

In response to reports from Xportsnews that claimed Jisoo was gearing up for a solo comeback, including plans to film a music video by the end of the month, BLISSOO promptly denied the speculation. "The solo comeback [rumors] are different from the truth," the agency stated, emphasizing Jisoo's commitment to her acting career for the foreseeable future.

Fans, known as BLINKs, who have eagerly anticipated Jisoo's return to the K-pop scene, will instead see her take on a series of ambitious acting projects. The singer-turned-actress is set to star in the upcoming zombie drama Newtopia alongside Park Jeong Min. The series, which is set against the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse in downtown Seoul, is expected to premiere in 2025 on the streaming platform Coupang Play. Directed by Yoon Sung-Hyun, known for acclaimed works such as Time to Hunt and Bleak Night, the drama boasts an impressive creative team. The scriptwriters, Ji Ho Jin and Han Ji Won, have previously collaborated on the Oscar-winning films Parasite and Okja, adding further intrigue to the project.

Jisoo's involvement in Newtopia has sparked significant interest, as she takes on a lead role that promises to push her acting abilities to new heights. The series is adapted from Han Sang Woon's novel Influenza and will also feature Kim Joon Han in a key role.

In addition to Newtopia, Jisoo is reportedly in discussions to headline another drama, Monthly Boyfriend, alongside Seo In Guk. The romantic-comedy series revolves around a virtual world where users can subscribe to a "boyfriend," with virtual connections extending into real life. The series is slated to be directed by Kim Jung Sik, who has helmed popular titles such as Work Later, Drink Now and Strong Girl Namsoon. If confirmed, this role would showcase Jisoo's versatility and further solidify her presence in the acting industry.

Jisoo's expanding acting portfolio extends to the upcoming film The Prophet: Omniscient Reader, in which she is set to star alongside Lee Min Ho and Ahn Hyo Seop. The film centers on an ordinary man whose life transforms into the plot of the web novel he has been reading. Portraying the character Dokja, the story follows his journey to navigate and survive a reality that mirrors the apocalyptic novel's storyline. The film, with its unique premise and star-studded cast, is expected to attract significant attention.

While fans may be disappointed that a solo music comeback is not on the horizon, Jisoo's dedication to her acting career offers a new dimension to her already multifaceted talent. Her evolving artistic pursuits signal a shift from the K-pop stage to the small and big screens, where she aims to make a lasting impact.
