Stray Kids Make History as First K-pop Boy Group to Perform at French Charity Concert
Stray Kids has expanded their global influence by becoming the first K-pop boy group to perform at a charity concert in France, marking a significant achievement.
On the 26th, Stray Kids participated in the 'Yellow Coin Gathering Charity Event' (Le Gala des Pièces Jaunes) held at the Accor Arena in Paris, France. This event is organized by the French hospital foundation 'Operation Yellow Coins,' chaired by France's First Lady Brigitte Macron. The event aims to raise funds to support hospitalized children and adolescents. This year's event featured renowned artists, including BLACKPINK's Lisa, Maroon 5, A Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Stray Kids, highlighting the gala.
Stray Kids showcased their powerful live performances, presenting their third full album '5-STAR' title track 'Thunderous,' the album track 'TOPLINE (Feat. Tiger JK),' and 'God's Menu.' Especially, 'God's Menu' was accompanied by a massive orchestra, adding grandeur to the performance and heating up the venue. The eight members displayed their unique powerful energy on stage, complemented by the synchronized chanting and cheers from fans holding glowing light sticks, creating a spectacular scene.
Dubbed as 'global trendsetters,' Stray Kids achieved remarkable success in France last year. In July 2023, they became the first K-pop artist to headline the 'Lollapalooza Paris,' captivating an audience of 60,000. Recently, the French Recording Industry Association (SNEP) announced that their third full album '5-STAR,' released in June last year, ranked 52nd, and their mini-album 'Rock-STAR,' released in November, ranked 135th on the '2023 Top 200 Albums' chart. This achievement underscores their strong popularity in France, as it represents the highest-ranking and best-selling K-pop albums in the country last year.
Stray Kids continue to cement their status with meaningful achievements in 2024. They have been nominated for 'Group of the Year' at the upcoming People's Choice Awards on February 18th and are also nominees in two categories, 'K-pop Artist of the Year' and 'K-pop Song of the Year,' at the '2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards' scheduled for April 1st.
