BTS Jungkook's 'Seven' Surpasses 1.3 Billion Streams on Spotify, Outshining Miley Cyrus
BTS member Jungkook's solo single "Seven" has achieved a remarkable milestone on Spotify, surpassing 1.3 billion streams in the shortest time for an Asian artist's song, showcasing his global popularity. Released last July, "Seven" recently crossed the 1.3 billion stream mark on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform.
"Seven" reached a total of 1.3 billion streams in just 184 days, marking the third shortest time in Spotify history and the fastest for an Asian artist's song. Additionally, "Seven" set a record for the fastest to reach 1.3 billion streams in 2023, beating Miley Cyrus's "Flowers," which took 187 days. Previously, "Seven" had also recorded the fastest 1.2 billion streams in Spotify history, achieving it in just 155 days.
The song's overwhelming popularity is also evident on Spotify's major charts. "Seven" held the top spot on the 'Daily Top Song Global' chart for a total of 71 days and led the 'Weekly Top Song Global' chart for nine weeks, demonstrating its strong and enduring success.
Based on these achievements, "Seven" was ranked fourth in Spotify's 'Top 10 Songs Globally' for 2023, a chart that consolidates the most streamed songs worldwide for the year.
"Seven" has also garnered prestigious awards at major music events. It won the 'Song of Summer' category at the '2023 MTV Video Music Awards' (MTV VMA), the 'Top Global K-Pop Song' at the '2023 Billboard Music Awards' (BBMAs), and the 'Best Song' at the '2023 MTV Europe Music Awards' (MTV EMA). The track has been recognized in various lists, including Billboard's 'The 100 Best Songs of 2023: Staff Picks,' the UK Official Chart's 'The best songs and albums of 2023,' and Rolling Stone's 'The 100 Best Songs of 2023.' Additionally, "Seven" topped Audacy's 'Bop Of The Year' for 2023.
On Billboard's charts, "Seven" debuted at number one on the 'Hot 100' and remained for 15 weeks. It also secured top positions on Billboard's 'Global (Excl. US)' and 'Global 200' charts for nine and seven consecutive weeks, respectively, charting for 26 weeks in total.
Jungkook achieved several world records with "Seven," including the fastest 1 billion streams on Spotify, the highest weekly streams for a male artist's track on Spotify Global Chart, and holding three number one hit songs on the IFPI's official 'MENA' chart. These achievements earned him four world records and an official entry in the Guinness World Records.
Recently, the music video for "Seven" won the 'SHORT LIST' award in the 'Film & Video' category at the '2024 Clio Music Awards,' one of the world's top three advertising festivals and known as the 'Oscars of the advertising industry.'
