Transforming Korean Entertainment: BLACKPINK's Jisoo and Ahn Bo Hyun's Open Romance and its Global Significance
Global attention has been focused on the open romance between BLACKPINK's Jisoo and actor Ahn Bo Hyun.
American media outlet CNN extensively covered the love story of Jisoo and Ahn Bo Hyun on the 3rd. Alongside this, they reported that "The acknowledgment of Jisoo and Ahn Bo Hyun's romance has exceptionally broken away from the secrecy typically surrounding the Korean entertainment industry. It's extremely rare for an agency to announce a K-pop idol's love affair, and the industry as a whole is moving away from contracts that prohibit dating."
The British BBC also analyzed, "K-pop stars rarely reveal their private lives. However, this announcement has shaken the K-pop industry. Just a decade ago, Korean agencies prohibited not only the dating of newcomers but even their possession of personal mobile phones."
In addition to this, other foreign media in Japan, China, and elsewhere have shown keen interest, rushing to report on Jisoo's romance.
Jisoo and Ahn Bo Hyun acknowledged their romantic relationship on the 3rd, stating that they are "getting to know each other with positive feelings."
Born in 1995, Jisoo debuted as BLACKPINK in 2016, receiving love for releasing hit songs like 'Whistle', 'Boombayah', 'Playing with Fire', 'DDU-DU DDU-DU', 'Kill This Love', and 'How You Like That'. The group is currently conducting the largest scale world tour for a K-pop girl group. Last year, Jisoo tried her hand at acting in 'Snowdrop', and she also flaunted her unique charm with her solo album 'Rose'.
Ahn Bo Hyun debuted as a model in 2007 and switched to acting in 2014 with 'Golden Cross'. Since then, he has built his filmography by appearing in 'Yumi's Cells', 'Military Prosecutor Doberman', and 'Itaewon Class'.
