BTS' Jungkook Hailed As K-pop's Best MAKNAE of 2020
"Maknae" is sometimes used about the youngest members of K-pop bands. King Choice's latest polling platform surveyed from July 1 to July 31, calls on foreign fans to vote for the 'Best KPOP Maknae 2020.'
BTS' Jungkook reportedly placed first with 3,204,236 votes. Widely acknowledged as an all-around great musician, Jungkook was regarded both for his singing and incredible dancing skills. He is also branded as KPOP's "Golden Maknae." IKON Chanwoo and BlackPink Lisa finished in the 4th and 5th spots from the poll, respectively. (via Allkpop)
ABOUT JUNGKOOK
Initially, Jungkook had visions of being a badminton player since he was young. However, after watching G-Dragon performing 'Heartbreaker' on TV, it inspired him to choose to be a musician.
Through his audition process in Daegu in 2011, Jungkook auditioned for South Korean talent competition Superstar K. He obtained selection proposals from seven entertainment companies even after failing the auditions.
Finally, upon seeing RM, currently his fellow band member and leader of BTS, he decided to become a trainee under Big Hit Entertainment. He traveled to Los Angeles during the summer of 2012 to get dance classes from Movement Lifestyle to improve his dancing ability in preparatory work for the debut.
Jungkook was also featured on Jo Kwon's 'I'm Da One' music video back in 2012 and worked as a backup dancer for GLAM before making an appearance as an official idol in South Korea. He mentioned that his biggest musical inspirations are Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, and Usher.
JUNGKOOK'S INFLUENCE
Jungkook classified as South Korea's third most-loved public figure of the year in a 2019 poll released by Gallup Korea.
He started his career rankings at the 20th spot in 2016, then placed 17th in 2017, eventually ranking 8th in 2018.
In 2018, Jungkook featured first in a row for Hi China publication for ten weeks, under China's most popular list of individuals. Jungkook is also immensely popular by many people on social media.
In October 2018, with much more than 3.7 million subscribers internationally in December 2018. He smashed the milestone of most real-time spectators with his single live stream in V Live history, and a clip of him performing in the studio that year has become the most popular post retweet in South Korea. Various musicians, including Kim Dong-Han and Hyeongseop X Euiwoong, have mentioned him as an inspiration and role model.
