Looming Tragedy: Unexpected Diagnosis Rocks 'The Good Bad Mother'
In the latest episode of JTBC's drama "The Good Bad Mother," a devastating revelation about Jin Young-soon's (played by Ra Mi-ran) health emerges.
In the sixth episode, aired on May 11, Jin Young-soon is confronted with the shocking news that she has stage 4 stomach cancer. Chaos ensues when Song Woo-byeok (Choi Moo-sung) orders his minions, So Ji-seok (Choi Soon-jin) and Cha Dae-ri (Park Cheon), to search the house of Choi Gang-ho, which leads to a tense confrontation. Gang-ho returns home to find his house in disarray and assumes his mother is responsible, exclaiming, "Mom's gonna be mad at me again."
At that moment, they hear footsteps, and a mysterious man wearing a helmet bursts in. Just as he is about to attack Gang-ho with a knife, So Shiljang and Cha Dae-ri jump out of hiding to protect him. A fight breaks out between the intruder and the two henchmen, with the mysterious man ultimately escaping as So Shiljang and Cha Dae-ri give chase. The assailant, who is later revealed to be working for Oh Tae-soo (Jeong Woong-in), crashes his motorcycle while trying to flee and apologizes to his contact labeled "VIP" for failing his mission.
Song Woo-baek, furious at So Shiljang for letting the man get away, pours soup over his head and threatens him with chopsticks. He orders his henchmen to protect Gang-ho and to find evidence against Oh Tae-soo, predicting that Oh will become more desperate as the presidential election approaches.
The next day, Lee Mi-joo (An Eun-jin) is busy scouting locations for her nail salon when she loses her wallet. Choi Kang-ho, who had been watching from a distance, retrieves it. He tries to return the wallet to her but fails to catch up with her. Later, Mi-joo manages to set up her salon in an elderly center with the enthusiastic support of the senior citizens.
Kang-ho spots Mi-joo's wallet being snatched by a thief and saves it by throwing an apple at the assailant. He chases the fleeing thief, shouting, "Out! It's either a home run or you're out!" Gang-ho's words remind him of something Song Woo-byeok said, triggering a flashback to his past. However, he is soon flustered by market vendors demanding payment for the apple and the eco-bag.
Jin Young-soon finds Gang-ho in his bewildered state and drives him and Mi-joo home. After dropping Mi-joo off, Young-soon apologizes to her sincerely for being harsh to her in the past, saying, "I'm truly sorry for making your life difficult and not giving you Gang-ho's contact information in Seoul. I feel like I'm being punished with this heartbreaking illness for causing you so much pain. Please forgive me."
Meanwhile, So Shiljang and Cha Dae-ri have a close call with Jin Young-soon at the pig farm she runs. When Young-soon suddenly collapses and is rushed to the hospital, she learns of her stage 4 stomach cancer diagnosis. When Gang-ho comes to visit her and falls out of his wheelchair, she coldly tells him to "get up" and turns her back on him.
