Aespa Breaks K-pop Girl Group Record with 1.37 Million Sales on First Day of Mini Album Release
Aespa, the trending girl group, has set a new record for the highest first-day album sales for a K-pop girl group with their third mini-album "MY WORLD" in less than a week.
According to Hanteo Chart on the 9th, the physical album sales of "MY WORLD," which was released offline the day before, reached 1,372,929 copies on the same day. The intro version sold 455,630 copies, the poster version sold 418,480 copies, the zine version sold 281,352 copies, and the tabloid version sold 217,467 copies.
This marks the third time a K-pop girl group's album has sold over 1 million copies on the day of release. Last year, K-pop girl group BLACKPINK's second full-length album "THE ALBUM" surpassed 1.01 million copies, and 'Le Sserafim's first full-length album "UNFORGIVEN," released on the 2nd, sold 1.02 million copies. Notably, Aespa's "MY WORLD" rewrote the record for the highest first-day sales for a K-pop girl group just six days after Le Sserafim's "UNFORGIVEN."
With the success of "'MY WORLD," Aespa has become a million-seller for two consecutive albums, following their second mini-album "GIRLS." With this momentum, it is possible for them to challenge the record for the highest first-week sales (initial sales) for a K-pop girl group. The pre-order sales for "MY WORLD" reached 1.8 million copies.
Currently, BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" holds the record for the highest initial sales for a K-pop girl group, with 1.54 million copies. Aespa's "MY WORLD" has climbed to second place in the all-time initial sales for a K-pop girl group based on its first-day sales, and it could potentially take the top spot if it maintains this momentum.
Le Sserafim's "UNFORGIVEN" ranks third with 1.19 million copies, Aespa's "GIRLS" ranks fourth with 1.12 million copies, and IVE's first full-length album "I'VE IVE" ranks fifth with 1.1 million copies.
Aespa's first-day sales also rank ninth among all K-pop groups, including boy groups.
Aespa is also raising their music chart performance. The title track "SPICY" from "MY WORLD" reached sixth place on Melon Top 100, the largest music platform in Korea.
