South Korean singer Lim Young-woong is finally stepping into the world of variety entertainment.

According to multiple insiders, Lim Young-woong's solo reality show is set to launch in May.

Lim Young-woong has been a singer who rarely appeared on variety shows. After winning TV Chosun's 'Mr. Trot' in 2020, he made brief appearances on MBC's 'Radio Star,' but his permanent appearances were limited to 'Love Call Center' and 'Ppong School' with the top six finalists. After 'Love Call Center' and 'Ppong School' ended, his TV appearances decreased even more. In 2021, he appeared on KBS's year-end special 'We Are Hero Im Young Woong' and TV Chosun's 2022 documentary 'I'm a Hero,' but other appearances were limited to music programs.

Instead, he focused on his singing career, releasing his first full-length album, holding a nationwide tour, and setting new records, including an unprecedented solo artist performance at Gocheok Sky Dome. However, from the perspective of fans who want to see more of their favorite star, there was a lingering feeling of 'I wish he appeared on TV more often.'

This reality show, Lim Young-woong's first solo variety program since his debut, is expected to receive a heated response from his 200,000-strong nationwide fan club, Young Woong Era.

The show was filmed during Lim Young-woong's visit to Los Angeles, USA, for a performance. He successfully completed the 'I'm a Hero in LA' performance at the Dolby Theatre on February 11 and 12. Afterward, he spent about two weeks in the United States, attending various schedules. The show is expected to allow viewers not only to see the beloved 'singer Im Young Woong' but also his down-to-earth human side, raising anticipation.

Considering Lim Young-woong's accomplishments, such as recording the highest-ever viewership rating of 16.1% for a solo special show and achieving the best records for a male solo artist, there is a growing interest in whether he will be able to conquer the variety show world with his solo reality show.

ILim Young-woong's solo reality show will be broadcast on KBS2 starting May 28, with a total of five episodes.
