Korean Singer Nam Tae-hyun Faces Charges for DUI, License Revocation
Korean singer Nam Tae-hyun is facing prosecution for driving under the influence (DUI) charges.
According to police on April 13 (KST), Nam was handed over to the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office on the 23rd of last month for violating the Road Traffic Act.
Nam Tae-hyun reportedly opened the door of his parked car while waiting for a designated driver during the DUI incident. In the process, his car door collided with a passing taxi. The right side mirror of the taxi was damaged, but Nam is said to have reached an agreement with the taxi driver. Following the accident, Nam allegedly moved his vehicle about 20 meters.
Police said that Nam got behind the wheel to move his car to a different parking spot at the same location. The police concluded that Nam was indeed driving under the influence and handed the case over to the prosecution. At the time of detection, Nam's blood alcohol concentration was 0.114%, warranting license revocation.
In addition to the DUI charges, Nam is also under investigation for violating drug control laws.
Nam Tae-hyun debuted in the music industry as a member of the group Winner in 2014, but left the team after only two years. He has since led the band South Club. Nam has been making headlines not for his musical career but for various controversies. In particular, his simultaneous public relationship with singer Jang Jae-in in 2019 sparked controversy over his alleged "two-timing" behavior.
