BLACKPINK's 'How You Like That' MV Surpasses 1.2 Billion Views: Group's Sixth Billion-View Video
South Korean girl group BLACKPINK's music video for "How You Like That" has surpassed 1.2 billion views on YouTube.
According to YG Entertainment on April 11, the music video for BLACKPINK's "How You Like That" exceeded 1.2 billion views on YouTube around 4:41 a.m. on the same day. This achievement, which took approximately 2 years and 9 months since its release on June 26, 2020, is a testament to the enduring interest of global fans in BLACKPINK's music.
"How You Like That" is a song with a message encouraging listeners to rise above any situation. It won the "Song of The Summer" award at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards and topped YouTube's "Global Top Summer Song" list that year.
The song's audio performance was also remarkable. At the time of its release, "How You Like That" achieved a "perfect all-kill" on domestic music charts, ranked No. 2 on Spotify's Global Top 50 chart, No. 20 on the UK Official Singles Top 100, and No. 33 on the Billboard Hot 100, dominating the mainstream pop market.
With this achievement, BLACKPINK now boasts six videos with over 1.2 billion views among a total of 41 videos with billion-view counts. Previously, the music videos for "DDU-DU DDU-DU" (2 billion views), "Kill This Love" (1.7 billion views), "BOOMBAYAH" (1.5 billion views), "As If It's Your Last" (1.2 billion views), and the "How You Like That" dance video (1.3 billion views) reached the same view count.
BLACKPINK has recently seen rapid growth in both YouTube views and subscribers. The group has experienced explosive growth each time they release a new song, with member Jisoo's first solo album, released on March 31, acting as another catalyst. In fact, their content's cumulative views have surpassed 30 billion, and their channel's subscriber count has exceeded 86.4 million.
Currently, BLACKPINK is in the middle of their world tour, "BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK]," the largest K-pop girl group tour to date, attracting around 1.5 million fans. After successfully completing 14 shows in seven North American cities last year and a 10-show tour in seven European cities, the four members are now meeting more fans in Asia. On April 15 and 22 (local time), they will make history as the first K-pop artists to headline the American music festival "Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival."
