Son Ye Jin will be back on the small screen following the success of Crash Landing on You that she starred with Hyun Bin. It has been a year since fans last saw the 39-year-old actress, so the news that she has been confirmed for a new drama brought excitement to her fans. 

According to Allkpop, Song Ye Jin will be the lead in the drama simply titled Thirty Nine, and it will be directed by Kim Sang Ho, who is also helmed the Shin Se Kyung and Im Siwan romance series Run On. The story was written by Yoo Young Ah. 

Thirty Nine tells the story of three female friends who are turning forty years old. Apparently, Son Ye Jin is one of the women, and it was reported that Jeon Mi Do of the hit medical drama Hospital Playlist is one of the lead star's close friends. 

Son Ye Jin will be Cha Mi Jo, the chief director of a dermatology clinic located in the affluent part of the city, Gangnam. Her family is wealthy, so she is refined, but there could be conflicts along the way. At any rate, on Wednesday, June 30, the actress' agency, MSTeam Entertainment, confirmed that she has accepted the project and will be working on it soon. 

"Son Ye Jin has decided on the upcoming JTBC drama 'Thirty Nine' to be her next project," the agency stated. "This will be her first return to JTBC in three years following the drama 'Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food.'"

Star News further reported that the drama would offer just 12 episodes, and its genre is romance, but there was no mention yet about who the lead actor will be. However, based on the report, Yeon Woo Jin and Lee Moo Saeng are part of the cast as well as Ahn So Hee. 

One of the two actors could be Son Ye Jin's leading man, or perhaps, the production team is adding one more artist to her partner. Meanwhile, filming for Thirty Nine is set to start sometime in August.
