2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards Will Be Held In South Korea After 11 Years + BTS Confirms Attendance
Because of the Coronavirus global epidemic, Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) will revert to Korea for the very first time in eleven years.
The 2020 MAMA will indeed be launched on December 6, at CJ ENM Content World in Paju, South Korea, as stated from an official press release from Ilgan Sports.
"MAMA(Mnet Asian Music Awards) will be conducted in Korea this year after recognizing the Coronavirus's present situation."
A 213,000 square meter stadium which will operate on December 1 is CJ ENM's Content World. It has become challenging to hold the operation abroad due to health and safety concerns surrounding the Coronavirus disease outbreak and the regulations of Hong Kong on admission into the country.
Meanwhile, it was also hard to find a suitable location in Korea, so it was ultimately agreed that it would be conducted at CJ ENM Content World. The seven-membered band BTS has been confirmed and revealed to be attending the said event.
The remainder of the line-up is reportedly still being verified. Moreover, attention is also paid to who will be the moderator for the gathering this year, as Park Go Gum is now performing his compulsory military service. Ever since 2017, Park Bo Gum has organized the event.
Since then, CJ ENM has stated that MAMA is returning to Korea by 2020, and would be performed as an ON: TACT live performance.
"The 2020 MAMA will be celebrated in Korea on December 6. MAMA, Asia's top award show ceremony, has always evolved throughout the production of new ideas. We believe that this year also brings a new possibility. We will plan the best platforms on the basis of the technologies and know-how we have acquired so that we can sparkle as the leading international music concert, accurate to our name." (via Koreaboo)
