The family of late actress Kim Sae-ron is set to file a defamation lawsuit against YouTuber Lee Jin-ho and will hold a press conference to explain the decision.

On March 16, Kwon Young-chan, head of the Korea Celebrity Suicide Prevention Association, confirmed that Bu Ji-seok, CEO lawyer of Law Firm Buyou, who is representing Kim Sae-ron's family, will submit the lawsuit on behalf of the family at 2 p.m. on March 17 (KST) at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. The press conference will follow to clarify the reasons behind the lawsuit against Lee Jin-ho.

Attorney Bu stated, "After meeting with the family's representative, we plan to submit the complaint against Lee Jin-ho at 2 p.m. on the 17th at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, accompanied by a press conference."

Kwon elaborated, "Initially, I was going to submit the complaint on behalf of the family. However, the family decided to summon the courage to personally submit the complaint against YouTuber Lee Jin-ho. Therefore, Attorney Bu Ji-seok, representing the family, will handle the submission."

Kwon continued, "Going forward, Attorney Bu Ji-seok will manage all legal proceedings related to the late Kim Sae-ron on behalf of the family. We hope this process will ensure not only the punishment of the cyber wreckers but also the restoration of Kim Sae-ron's honor."

Lee Jin-ho has uploaded multiple videos over the past three years on his YouTube channel, discussing and criticizing Kim Sae-ron's personal life. After news of Kim Sae-ron's death broke last month on February 16, Lee Jin-ho set related videos to private.

In an official statement released by the family on March 15, they announced plans to file the lawsuit next week. "We will submit the complaint against Lee Jin-ho next week," they declared, also demanding a public apology. The family further stated, "We expect an apology for visiting during the funeral, calling after the burial, and claiming he couldn't find the memorial site. Though he claims it was for fact-checking, the family felt ridiculed and found it highly offensive."

Previously, on March 13, Lee Jin-ho addressed the controversy on his YouTube channel, stating, "I contacted the family the day after Kim Sae-ron's funeral on the 20th. It was to express my apologies at least morally. I will clarify everything through the investigative authorities. I will cooperate fully with the investigation and reveal the results to the public. If there is any false information in my reporting, I will take full responsibility. I will avoid no responsibility."
