BTS V's 'FRI(END)S' Soars to Top 3 on UK's Official Big Top 40
BTS's V has made a striking debut in the UK's "Official Big Top 40" chart with his latest single "FRI(END)S," securing a top 3 position and shining a light on his global popularity.
As announced on March 18, "FRI(END)S" entered the chart at number 3, achieving this remarkable feat with only two days of tracking, making it the highest new entry for the week. This position even surpassed the entry of new music by pop star Ariana Grande, showcasing the warm reception and soaring popularity of "FRI(END)S."
The "Official Big Top 40" is the UK's largest chart show, broadcast by the nation's premier music radio network, Capital FM Network. The chart is compiled based on iTunes sales, Apple Music streaming, and radio airplay, and is notable for being the only chart that includes radio broadcast data.
V previously caught attention in 2020 with his song "Sweet Night," becoming the first Korean solo artist to chart in the "Official Big Top 40" since Psy's "Gangnam Style" in 2012. Following this, V's other solo tracks, including "Christmas Tree," "Slow Dancing," and "Rainy Days," have also enjoyed success on this prestigious chart.
Moreover, the music video for "FRI(END)S" has garnered significant popularity in the UK, achieving the number 1 spot on the UK iTunes Music Video Chart and debuting at number 2 on the Tidal's UK Top Video Chart. "FRI(END)S" continues to dominate the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart, maintaining the number 1 position for four consecutive days.
On Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, "FRI(END)S" recorded 4,728,233 streams on its first day, marking the highest record for a global male solo artist in 2024 by debuting at number 7 on the "Daily Top Songs Global" chart. It also made an impressive debut at number 1 on YouTube's Global Top Music Videos Chart.
