BTS V Shines in UMI's 'Wherever U R', Secures Top 5 on Billboard's Digital Song Sales Chart
V of BTS, featured in American singer UMI's latest track 'Wherever U R', has made a notable appearance on major Billboard charts. The song ranked 5th on the Billboard 'U.S. Digital Song Sales Chart' announced on January 9th for the week of January 13th. Additionally, 'Wherever U R' entered the 'Canadian Digital Song Sales' chart at 10th place.
'Wherever U R' also secured positions on other major Billboard charts, including 99th on the 'Global 200' and 64th on the 'Excluding U.S. Global Chart'.
In Billboard's genre-specific charts, the song debuted at 20th on the 'Hot R&B Songs' chart, marking its first entry. It premiered at 1st on the 'R&B Digital Song Sales' chart and debuted at 2nd on the 'R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales' chart.
Furthermore, 'Wherever U R' debuted at 1st on ARIA's (Australian Recording Industry Association) Digital Track Chart.
Through this song, V has achieved over 100 first-place rankings on iTunes charts in various countries with five solo songs.
UMI described 'Wherever U R' as a song for everyone who loves someone from a different time and place, highlighting that love is a frequency that can be felt regardless of distance. She shared that the song came to life through continuous communication with V, pondering who V wanted to write the song for.
UMI revealed she was unaware of V's military enlistment and found out through the news. She believed V had a reason to trust her with the song and wanted to release it on his birthday.
She emphasized that the song was crafted to be loved by people, reflecting V's deep affection for his fans as he enlisted in the military.
V enlisted in the army on December 11 last year and is currently undergoing basic military training. He is set to serve in the Military Police Special Mission Brigade of the Capital Defense Command. His expected discharge date is June 10, 2025.
