BTS V's 'Slow Dancing' Achieves Longest K-Pop Solo Charting in UK Official Charts
BTS member V's solo album title track 'Slow Dancing' has set a new record for the longest charting period by a K-Pop solo artist in the UK Official Charts, further highlighting his global popularity. According to the latest UK Official Charts for the first week of January, V's 'Slow Dancing' has charted for 11 weeks in the 'Singles Download' chart and 10 weeks in the 'Singles Sales' chart, breaking the record for the longest charting period by a K-Pop solo artist.
V has made history with 'Slow Dancing', becoming the first K-Pop solo artist to debut at number one on both charts and now holding the record for the longest charting period.
V's solo album 'Layover', released in September, debuted at number one in the 'Singles Download', 'Singles Sales', and 'Album Download' charts in its first week in the UK Official Charts, demonstrating its global appeal.
Moreover, as a K-Pop solo artist, V has charted for a record-breaking 8 consecutive weeks in the UK Official 'Album Download' chart and was the first to simultaneously chart in both the UK Official 'Album' and 'Single' charts, showcasing his impressive streaming power.
V's 'Layover' album not only enjoyed popular success but also garnered high praise from international media outlets. Billboard ranked 'Layover' as the second-best K-Pop album of 2023, and the UK media outlet 'Timeout' placed it 19th in their top 30 albums of 2023.
Additionally, V's recent collaboration with American singer-songwriter UMI, 'wherever u r', released on December 30th, successfully debuted at number 6 in the UK Official 'Singles Download' chart and number 9 in the 'Singles Sales' chart.
This song, released on V's birthday, conveys the message of always being together despite physical distance, poignantly reflecting the deep connection between V, who is currently serving in the military, and his fans.
