BTS V's 'Wherever U R' Dominates Japanese Music Charts: Secures No.1 on Oricon Daily Chart
BTS's V has illuminated his popularity by seizing the top spot on Japan's Oricon chart with 'Wherever U R', a song featuring his collaboration. V marked his birthday on December 30 by gifting fans a collaboration track with American indie singer UMI. He featured in 'Wherever U R', composed by UMI.
'Wherever U R' has been warmly received in Japan, achieving high rankings on various platform charts, including the Oricon chart. On its release day, the song debuted at number one on Japan's Oricon 'Daily Digital Single' chart.
On Oricon Music Store, as of January 6th, 'Wherever U R' claimed the top spot across all genres in the 'Single Download' ranking. For the week tallied from December 27, 2023, to January 2, 2024, the track secured second place. This achievement was accomplished in just four days following the release of 'Wherever U R' on December 30. Notably, Oricon Music Store's download ranking reflects only one count per user purchase, avoiding duplicate counts even if the same user purchases with different accounts.
On Sony Music's platform Mora, 'Wherever U R' also conquered the top spot in the Western music and High-resolution audio charts for the first week of January.
On Amazon Japan Music, as of January 7, the track is in the second position in both the 'Hot New Releases Album' and 'Hot New Releases Single' charts. It's third in the 'Best Sellers Album' chart and also third in the 'Best Songs' chart.
Furthermore, V's solo album 'Layover', released last year, achieved the highest rank for a K-pop solo artist in Oricon's '2023 Annual Ranking', placing 16th in the 'Album Ranking'. It also reached 19th in the 'Combined Album Ranking' and 5th in the 'Western Music Album Ranking', marking the highest positions in three Oricon ranking categories for a K-pop solo artist.
