Directed by PD Lee Myung Woo, ‘Backstreet Rookie’ is set to premiere on June 12, 2020.
This drama will be Ji Chang Wook’s second drama after his military service ended last 2019. He starred in TVN’s ‘Melting Me Softly’ just after his release.
Ji Chang Wook is one of the most popular leading men in Korea today. However, before debuting as an onscreen actor back in 2006, he used to be an actor in a musical theater.
The actor rose to popularity when he played the role of Ta Hwan, the 16th emperor of the Yuan Dynasty, in the historical drama Empress Ki. The drama had solid viewership ratings nationwide. It aired on MBC from October 2013 to April 2014 for 51 episodes.
Ji Chang Wook then starred in an action thriller drama Healer from December 2014 to February 2015, where he took martial arts lessons for his role as a mysterious errand guy in the series.
After the drama aired, Ji Chang Wook became popular in China and other parts of Asia. He started taking roles in Mandarin-language dramas like The Whirlwind Girl 2 and Mr. Right.
Some of his popular works include the dramas The K2 and Suspicious Partner, and his action film Fabricated City.
