IVE Clinches 'Best Artist of the Year' at the 50th Korea Broadcasting Awards: A Testament to Their Meteoric Rise
IVE (An Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Jang Wonyoung, Liz, Leeseo) has been crowned as this year's Best Artist.
On September 4th, IVE was announced as the Best Artist during the live broadcast of the 50th 'Korea Broadcasting Awards' on KBS 1TV.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the 'Korea Broadcasting Awards' annually recognizes works and broadcasters that have contributed to the advancement of South Korean broadcasting and have realized the public value of terrestrial broadcasting.
On September 5th, through their agency Starship Entertainment, IVE expressed, "It's a tremendous honor to receive such a meaningful award as 'Best Artist' at the 'Korea Broadcasting Awards'. We are deeply grateful to the public and our fans who have cherished and loved IVE's music throughout the year, as well as to the broadcasting officials and staff who have helped us present wonderful stages."
They continued, "We want to convey our love and gratitude to our DIVEs who always fill our stages with cheering. As befits the title of 'Best Artist', we will always strive to be a continually evolving IVE. We ask for your continued love and support."
Having debuted in December 2021 with their first single 'ELEVEN', IVE made a meteoric entrance into the music scene. Last year, they released their second single 'LOVE DIVE' and third single 'After LIKE', both of which became mega-hits. IVE's 'LOVE DIVE' topped various major annual music charts, set records on the TikTok platform for most-used songs, and swept rookie and main awards at various ceremonies, proving their phenomenal popularity.
Furthermore, their first full album 'I've IVE', released in April, continued the IVE craze. With initial sales exceeding 1.1 million copies, they achieved the status of a million-seller for the second time. Their double title tracks 'Kitsch' and 'I AM' achieved a 'Perfect All-Kill' on major domestic music charts, and they secured 11 music show wins ('Kitsch' with 2 wins and 'I AM' with 9 wins).
Having previously won the 'Performer Award in the Singer Category' at the '35th Korea PD Awards', IVE's recognition as the 'Best Artist' at the 'Korea Broadcasting Awards' further solidified their position as a leading 4th generation group.
On the same day, IVE was also selected as 'Female Idol of the Year' at the '2023 Brand of the Year Awards'. Leader An Yujin also celebrated a double win by receiving the award in the 'Female Variety Idol' category.
IVE is set to hold their first world tour 'IVE THE 1ST WORLD TOUR 'SHOW WHAT I HAVE'' on October 7th and 8th at the Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Seoul.
Following that, they will release their first mini-album 'I'VE MINE' on October 13th.
