KARD's 'Icky' Lands on UK's NME 'Best K-Pop Songs of 2023' List
The co-ed group KARD has secured a spot on the UK music magazine NME's 'Best K-Pop Songs of 2023'.
KARD's title track 'Icky' from their 6th mini-album of the same name has made it onto the 'The 15 Best K-Pop Songs of 2023' list compiled by UK music magazine NME. The group comprises members BM, J.Seph, Somin, and Jiwoo.
Describing 'Icky', NME conveyed that KARD filled a void in K-Pop that lacked sexiness. They characterized 'Icky', a song filled with metaphoric expressions, as daringly provocative and full of addictive tension. They also highlighted the contrast between the enchanting charm of vocalists Somin and Jiwoo and the bold yet instinctive rapping of BM and J.Seph.
Major overseas media outlets including the American Envi Media, not just NME, have been paying considerable attention to KARD's comeback.
The group's 6th mini-album 'Icky' is an embodiment of KARD's pride and confidence, reflecting their continual efforts to showcase unique concepts with each album. The members' evolved musical capabilities were on full display, with all of them participating in the song creation process. The title track 'Icky' ranked 15th on the US Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart on June 10th. The cumulative views for the 'Icky' challenge, conducted through TikTok, surpassed 78 million.
KARD plans to embark on a world tour, titled 'PLAYGROUND', next month in 2023.
