EXO Faces Setbacks Amid Contract Disputes and Sudden YouTube Live Cancellation
Group EXO has been dealing with numerous setbacks as they gear up for their first comeback in over two years. As they prepare for the release of their 7th full album 'Exist' on July 10, the group has been dealing with ongoing contract disputes between some members and their agency, SM Entertainment. This has been compounded by the sudden cancellation of their YouTube content filming, causing fans to worry about the group's state.
From the beginning of this month, members Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen were embroiled in contract disputes with SM Entertainment. On the 19th, they came to a dramatic agreement with the agency and have since been focusing on preparing for their group activities. After the conflict was resolved, Baekhyun expressed his gratitude towards fans through the fan community platform saying, "Thank you for your trust. I'm sorry for the confusion and difficulty."
However, fans' anxiety grew when EXO abruptly canceled the shooting of their YouTube content 'Killing Voice' on the 28th, just a day before the scheduled filming. 'Killing Voice' is popular content that features live performances of hit songs and is considered an essential part of any artist's comeback. The sudden cancellation led to speculation that it may not be unrelated to the recent disputes with their agency.
Amid growing controversy, SM Entertainment and content producer Dingo Music explained, "We requested a change in the recording date as we need more practice for the new song. We are currently coordinating schedules with the production team."
Despite the turbulence, EXO plans to proceed with their comeback schedule as planned. According to SM on the 29th, following the initial release of 'Let Me In' on the 12th, they will present the track 'Hear Me Out' on the 30th. The previously released 'Let Me In' has already gained traction, topping the iTunes Top Songs charts in 33 regions worldwide, including Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, creating a strong anticipation for the group's comeback.
