BTS Celebrates a Decade of Success with a Bang: Virtual Concert Series 'Bang Bang Con 23' Launched Today!
"Today is 'Bang Bang Con' Day!"
Celebrating a decade since their debut, South Korean pop sensation BTS kicks off the online streaming festival, 'Bang Bang Con 23', today. This extravaganza is a part of their BTS ONLINE CONCERT WEEKEND series.
'Bang Bang Con' offers fans the unique opportunity to enjoy footage from previous BTS concerts for free. Streaming takes place on the group's official YouTube channel, Bangtan TV, and global fandom platform Weverse. Since its inception in April 2020, 'Bang Bang Con' has not only received a warm response from fans worldwide but also marked the start of a new era of 'untact' or contactless performance culture in the digital age.
According to the 'Bang Bang Con 23' poster released today, the event is divided into two parts, unveiled at noon and 8 PM respectively. The first part revisits performances from fan meetings held in 2019 and 2021, namely 'BTS 5TH MUSTER [MAGIC SHOP] in Seoul' and 'BTS 2021 MUSTER SOWOOZOO.' The second part features a real-time stream of the online concert 'BTS MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E' held in 2020.
'BTS 5TH MUSTER [MAGIC SHOP] in Seoul', held in 2019, was BTS's fifth official global fan meeting. Under the theme of "Music of BTS to listen to when comfort is needed, Healing Magic Shop," the band met with their global fanbase, ARMY, offering special stages that reenact their early days with songs such as 'Two! Three! (Hoping for More Good Days)', 'HOME', 'Whalien 52', 'We Are Bulletproof Pt.2', among others. This was followed by performances of several hit songs like 'IDOL', 'Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey)'.
Next, 'BTS 2021 MUSTER SOWOOZOO' commemorated their 8th debut anniversary, unfolding with an outdoor stage under the concept of 'Adventure'. With stage sets resembling various planets and the number '8', real-time interaction with fans via 'ARMY IN ECHO' and 'ARMY on Air', the event delighted fans worldwide. Viewers got to enjoy performances of songs like 'Life Goes On', 'Butter', 'Dynamite', 'Dis-ease', 'FIRE', 'So What', 'Not Today', 'A Supplementary Story: You Never Walk Alone', and 'Mikrokosmos'.
The online concert 'BTS MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E', featured in the second part, is filled with popular tracks such as 'ON', 'N.O', 'Boy In Luv', 'Black Swan', 'DNA', and 'No More Dream'. This concert, accentuated by augmented reality (AR) and extended reality (XR) technologies, was viewed by fans from 191 countries and regions worldwide.
'Bang Bang Con 23' marks the grand commencement of BTS's 10th-anniversary celebrations dubbed '2023 BTS FESTA'. This event promises an array of unique content and diverse events both online and offline, honoring a decade since the team's debut.
