Le Sserafim and NewJeans Named in Forbes' '30 Under 30 Asia' as Rising Powerhouses in Entertainment"
The groups Le Sserafim and NewJeans have been recognized in Forbes' influential '30 Under 30 Asia 2023' list.
Forbes annually selects 30 young individuals who have achieved notable success in various sectors including art, marketing, technology, finance, distribution, and healthcare. On May 18, both Leseraphim and Newjins made the list in the Entertainment & Sports division.
Forbes highlighted the groups' global influence, citing the hundreds of millions of views their music videos receive on YouTube and their other significant achievements.
Indeed, Le Sserafim has been on a roll since the release of their first full-length album 'UNFORGIVEN' on the 1st. They reached 6th on the Billboard Main Album Chart 'Billboard 200', setting a record for the shortest time a K-pop girl group has entered the top 10 of the chart. Based on domestic Hanteo Chart standards, the album's initial sales also recorded an impressive 1.25 million units. Forbes described Le Sserafim as "one of the most popular K-pop girl groups at present."
NewJeans set a Guinness record by reaching a combined 1 billion streams on Spotify in the shortest time among K-pop artists. Their songs 'OMG' and 'Ditto' simultaneously entered the Billboard Main Singles Chart 'Hot 100' and stayed there for 6 and 5 weeks, respectively. In their home country, they achieved a rare feat by sweeping the top three spots on Melon for three consecutive months (January to March) with 'OMG', 'Ditto', and 'Hype boy'. Forbes predicted that NewJeans will be "another sensation in K-pop."
