ZEROBASEONE's Exciting Debut at 'KCON', Surprise Reveal of Debut Spoiler Film
The group ZEROBASEONE has proven their explosive popularity at 'KCON JAPAN 2023,' their first full appearance, fueling anticipation for their official debut.
ZEROBASEONE (Kim Ji-woong, Zhang Hao, Sung Han-bin, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae-rae, Ricky, Kim Gyu-vin, Park Gun-wook and Han Yu-jin) delivered their first performance at the World's No.1 K-Culture Festival 'KCON JAPAN 2023' held at Makuhari Messe in Japan on the 14th.
ZEROBASEONE opened their performance with 'Here I am,' the signal song from Mnet's 'Boys Planet.' The nine members, dressed in outfits reminiscent of their signature school uniforms, presented a refreshing and energetic performance. The audience of 15,000 stood up and enthusiastically sang along to the entire song in Korean, creating an impressive sight.
ZEROBASEONE then performed the competition song 'Say My Name' from 'Boys Planet,' explaining that they chose the song hoping that "the three letters of our nine names will always be called out by fans around the world." The nine members vividly portrayed the heart of a boy falling in love the moment his name is called, bringing a fresh and lively atmosphere.
As this was their first meeting with their official fan club, ZE_ROSE, ZeroBaseOne touched their fans with their special love. The members created unforgettable moments by mimicking the audience's poses in real-time during the CCCV corner and distributing signed balls and T-shirts to local fans while roaming the venue in a moving vehicle. In particular, ZeroBaseOne touched fans by giving out roses, taking inspiration from their fan club name 'ZE_ROSE' and the fact that the performance day was Rose Day.
ZEROBASEONE expressed, "We hope that the journey we nine, who started from zero as our name suggests, will walk from now on can become a more wonderful work with your support."
At the end of the performance, the spoiler film 'Youth in the Shade' for their debut album was unexpectedly revealed. The video shows the silhouette of Jang Hao against a bright light, followed by Sung Han-bin slowly emerging into the light. The video ends with the two members facing each other with a small candle in between, as the words 'YOUTH', 'IN THE', and 'SHADE' cross the screen.
After the video release, spoiler-related keywords surged in real-time Twitter trends, amplifying global fans' curiosity and increasing expectations for ZeroBaseOne's debut album and concept.
Despite not having officially debuted yet, ZEROBASEONE has demonstrated exceptional popularity as a rookie at 'KCON JAPAN 2023,' where they took the official stage. They set up a special artist booth, which is only granted to the two artists with the most votes in a pre-vote among KCONers, and tickets for the MEET&GREET, where they met fans directly on-site, sold out in an instant.
ZEROBASEONE has proven their overwhelming popularity both online and offline, with nearly 60,000 simultaneous viewers for 'K-POP IDOL LABO' released through the official KCON YouTube channel.
