IVE Wins 'M Countdown' Trophy, Remembers Late Moonbin with Solemnity:'We Will Remember Forever'
Group IVE raised the "M Countdown" first place trophy, and the broadcast also included a tribute to the late Astro member Moonbin, who suddenly left this world.
On the evening of April 20, Mnet's "M Countdown" featured IVE winning the third week of April's top spot, defeating BLACKPINK's Jisoo's "FLOWER" with the title track "I AM" from their first full-length album.
IVE took to the stage in black outfits. After winning first place, Ahn Yujin calmly expressed her brief gratitude, saying, "Thank you to the fans who always send us a lot of support."
Following that, MCs MONSTA X's Jooheon and (G)I-DLE's Miyeon paid tribute to Moonbin.
Miyeon said, "I think many people had a tough time with sadness today. The sudden news of parting was very heartbreaking for us," and Jooheon added, "We will remember Moonbin, who gifted us with wonderful stages for a long time. We will pray once again for his peace." Miyeon then said, "We send our condolences to the family and fans once again."
The two had also expressed their condolences at the opening of the show. Jooheon said, "Today is a day when the spring rain in the morning is not entirely welcoming. We received news that a colleague who had laughed and cried with us on stage for a long time suddenly left our side and became a star in the sky," and Miyeon added, "We express our deep condolences for the truly heartbreaking and sad news."
The production team displayed a caption that read, "We will remember forever all the moments we had with the singer Moonbin, who shone brightly like a star on stage."
Meanwhile, on the broadcast, Highlight's Lee Gikwang's solo comeback stage was revealed, captivating the audience with its cinematic quality. DRIPPIN's and TEMPEST's stages, with their new worldviews, were also unveiled for the first time on the show. In addition, Park Jihoon and Kep1er appeared, staging glamorous performances.
According to police, Moonbin was found dead at his home in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, around 8:10 PM on April 19 (KST). It was reported that Moonbin's manager was the first to discover the scene. Police are said to be considering an autopsy and other measures to investigate the exact cause of death.
The funeral parlor for the deceased is set up at the Seoul Asan Hospital Funeral Hall, with the burial scheduled for April 22. The funeral will be held privately and quietly.
