'Post-Wedding Backlash Hits Hard:' Lee Seung-gi Struggles to Fill 477 Seats After Marriage Controversy
The fallout from Lee Seung-gi's marriage has taken a toll on the star. Once capable of filling 15,000 seats a decade ago, Lee Seung-gi is now struggling to fill just 477 seats.
Lee Seung-gi will be holding his 2023 Asia Tour Concert "The dreamers dream - Chapter 2" from May 4 to 7 at the Link Art Center Payco Hall. This will be his first Asia tour in four years, following his 2019 Asia fan meeting.
Lee Seung-gi, known as the "original model son" and "national younger boyfriend," was expected to have no problem filling the 477 seats. However, as of the 20th, not all four performances have sold out, which is shocking given his past success in filling the 15,000-seat Olympic Gymnastics Arena. This further highlights the waning of Lee Seung-gi's ticket power.
This decline seems to stem from the recent backlash following his marriage to Lee Da-in. Lee Seung-gi had a dispute with Hook Entertainment, with whom he had a long-standing relationship. After that, he donated his entire settlement and received public support. However, he faced criticism after getting married to Lee Da-in due to her father's involvement in stock manipulation.
Recently, on April 12, just five days after his wedding, Lee Seung-gi said, "Even my close friends advised me to break up, considering my image. It was frustrating." He continued, "My wife didn't choose her parents. How can I say we should break up because of her parents' issue?" He confessed his sincerity, saying, "I won't ask you to bless our marriage. Just watch us. I will live my life sharing it with Lee Da-in. I believe that's the best I can do."
Despite his plea, the public remains cold. Having postponed his honeymoon to focus on preparing for his concert, will Lee Seung-gi be able to meet his fans in a full venue? The outcome is drawing attention.
