BTS Jungkook's music video for "Dreamers," the official soundtrack of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, is heating up on YouTube. The video has recently surpassed 150 million views.
Released on FIFA's official YouTube channel with the title "Jung Kook (of BTS) featuring Fahad Al Kubaisi - Dreamers | FIFA World Cup 2022 Soundtrack," the "Dreamers" music video has demonstrated its continued popularity, breaking the 150 million view mark in just about four months since its November release. Furthermore, it still ranks at number 89 on the popular music video chart and holds the number 1 spot for all-time accumulated views on FIFA's official YouTube channel.
In addition to the music video, the opening ceremony performance of "Dreamers," titled "Jung Kook from BTS performs 'Dreamers' at FIFA World Cup opening ceremony," has garnered over 49 million views on FIFA's official YouTube channel, ranking as the 10th most viewed video on the channel.
On BTS's official YouTube channel, BANGTANTV, the 2022 Qatar World Cup opening ceremony performance titled "Jung Kook 'Dreamers' @ FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Opening Ceremony" has set records as the first live performance by an Asian solo artist and the fastest live performance by an Asian artist to reach 100 million views.
Recently, the 2022 FIFA World Cup's official YouTube channel shared an episode video of "Dreamers," one of the official soundtracks of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, revealing the behind-the-scenes story of Jungkook's invitation to perform at the opening ceremony's main highlight stage. In the video, FIFA Creative Entertainment Executive and three-time Grammy-winning global producer RedOne said, "We wanted something new. It was the first Asian artist in World Cup history. That was Jungkook. He is an incredibly influential and amazing artist. Young people all over the world love him so much. In fact, in this respect, he is a legend." He explained the background and reasons for reaching out to Jungkook.
It has been reported that FIFA specifically requested Jungkook for the performance from the beginning, which generated significant buzz.
