BLACKPINK Electrifies Tokyo Dome Concert, Drawing 110,000 Fans in Two Days
BLACKPINK proved their popularity in Japan once again, filling the Tokyo Dome with the cheers of their fans.
On the 8th and 9th, BLACKPINK held their "BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] JAPAN" at the Tokyo Dome for two days. Planned on a scale more than twice as large as their previous performances, this concert, held in Tokyo for the first time in about three years and four months since their 2019 world tour "IN YOUR AREA," garnered much attention from local media and fans.
Tickets sold out in record-breaking time, and even limited-view seats were snapped up quickly. The pop-up store that opened a week earlier in Tokyo's Shibuya district also experienced an influx of visitors. Over the two days of the concert, a total of 110,000 spectators gathered, showcasing BLACKPINK's overwhelming ticket power.
BLACKPINK responded to fans' expectations with a passionate opening, performing powerful hits like "How You Like That," "Pretty Savage," and "Whistle." They continued with tracks from their second full album 'BORN PINK,' including the title song "Shut Down," as well as megahits like "Kill This Love," "DDU-DU DDU-DU," and "Lovesick Girls."
Solo stages by each member also showcased their individual charms, heating up the venue even more. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa all delivered overwhelming performances with their unique auras and musical styles, dominating the vast Tokyo Dome.
Jisoo, in particular, unveiled her first live performance of "FLOWER," the title track from her solo album "ME," released in March. Her unique charm, impressive group dance with the backup dancers, and the dazzling production that maximized the theme of the song drew enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The members performed relentlessly, from their original setlist to the encore, demonstrating the power of their live performances. The rich band sound and YG Entertainment's know-how in concert production captivated the hearts of the fans with its diverse visual elements. From the beginning to the end, the audience enjoyed the concert, standing in their seats, waving lightsticks, and singing along.
BLACKPINK is currently on the largest K-pop girl group world tour, attracting around 1.5 million people. They successfully completed 14 shows in seven North American cities and ten shows in seven European cities last year, and are now meeting more fans in Asia. They will meet Japanese fans once again on June 3rd and 4th at the Kyocera Dome Osaka. All tickets have been sold out, and the concert will be broadcast live through Japan's largest OTT platform, U-NEXT.
