BLACKPINK Triumphs Over Newjins and IVE in April 2023 Girl Group Brand Rankings
In the April 2023 girl group brand reputation rankings, BLACKPINK secured the top spot, followed by Newjins in second place and IVE in third. The Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute analyzed 55,611,462 pieces of big data from March 9, 2023, to April 9, 2023, to measure girl group brand reputation indices, including participation, media, communication, and community indices.
Compared to the 57,871,378 pieces of big data analyzed in March, the April 2023 girl group brand reputation rankings saw a 3.91% decrease. The brand reputation index is an indicator created through the analysis of big data, considering how consumers' online habits significantly impact brand consumption. The girl group brand reputation index measures positive and negative evaluations, media attention, and consumer interest and communication about girl groups, including brand reputation channel analysis.
The top 30 girl group brand rankings for April 2023 were BLACKPINK, Newjins, IVE, TWICE, (G)I-DLE, Red Velvet, Girls' Generation, Apink, Le Serafin, aespa, Oh My Girl, Cosmic Girls, HiKi, STAYC, MAMAMOO, fromis_9, Girl's Day, N.MIX, APRIL, ITZY, Dreamcatcher, EXID, Kepler, cignature, Rocket Punch, Laboum, Woo!ah!, Ladies' Code, ELRIS, and BlingBling, in that order.
BLACKPINK (Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa), the top-ranking girl group brand, achieved a brand reputation index of 8,126,951, with a participation index of 223,788, media index of 1,999,661, communication index of 1,621,284, and community index of 4,282,218. This was a 60.32% increase compared to their March brand reputation index of 5,069,149.
Newjins (Minji, Hani, Daniel, Haerin, and Hyein) ranked second with a brand reputation index of 5,428,500, reflecting a 1.22% increase compared to their March brand reputation index of 5,362,902.
IVE (An Yujin, Gaeul, Rea, Jang Wonyoung, Riz, and Lee Seo) ranked third with a brand reputation index of 3,282,997, marking a 21.37% increase compared to their March brand reputation index of 2,704,894.
The Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute's Director, Koo Chang-hwan, commented on the rankings, noting that BLACKPINK recorded the highest brand reputation index in April 2023. He observed a 3.91% decrease compared to the big data analyzed in March, and said, "Upon analyzing the brand data, we found a 11.95% decrease in brand consumption, a 1.11% decrease in brand issues, a 20.97% decrease in brand communication, and a 3.48% increase in brand proliferation."
Koo added that a link analysis of BLACKPINK revealed high scores for "record, release, and launch," while keyword analysis showed "Jisoo, flower, and game" scoring high. The positive-to-negative ratio analysis for BLACKPINK's brand showed a 93.27% positivity rate.
The Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute releases the brand reputation index for domestic brands monthly. In the ever-evolving K-pop landscape, these rankings are essential for artists and entertainment companies to gauge their position and growth within the industry. As trends shift and new groups emerge, the rankings offer a snapshot of the K-pop scene at any given moment.
